Wise Guys Science Club Visits Altamaha Animal Clinic - article written by Jamiya F. and Regan M.
Sally D. Meadows Wise Guys went to the Altamaha Animal Clinic in January! Everyone had an extraordinary time.
Dr. Tollison gave us a tour around the clinic. Dr. Perry gave shots to the animals. They have cages for animals who are there. The cages are in different rooms including a healing room, a sick room, and a room for patients.
Dr. Tollison put a heart rate monitor on her finger and it showed her heart rate. She let us try it out! Most of us had steady heart beats. You have to stay calm, steady, and quiet. There is also another platform that you sit a cog or cat on. It sprays gas on them to keep them under anesthesia .
Two of the main dogs whom we got to pet on our tour were Betsy and Lulu. Lulu didn’t have a talent. She just walked around getting attention. Betsy had a talent though. She would get paper towels for you and when you were finished, she tore it up.
The trip to the Altamaha Clinic was a trip to remember. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. We can’t wait for the next trip.
