Fourth and fifth grade students had to “bee” prepared to bring their best last week when competing in the SDM school spelling bee. The annual contest was held in the SDM media center on Friday, January 24. The 22 participants eagerly awaited their next word to be called and tried to out-spell their opponents. It is quite an accomplishment just to make it to the bee, so congratulations to all participants. The top six students are as follows: Chandler Bush (6th place), Bess Wilcox (5th place), Kailyn Kirkland (4th place), Christine Schaefer (3rd place), and Dalton Schnelle (2nd place). The winner for the 2014 SDM school spelling bee is Joshua Lindem. These six students will compete in the system spelling bee against six students from JRT. The system bee will be held Monday, February 3, in the SDM media center at 8:30. Good luck to all students involved and congratulations to a job well done!
