Fourth and fifth grades students had to “bee” prepared to bring their best this week when competing in the SDM school spelling bee. The annual contest was held in the SDM media center on Monday, January 12. The participants eagerly awaited their next word to be called and tried to out-spell their opponents. It is quite an accomplishment just to make it to the bee, so congratulations to all participants. The top six students were as follows: Hudson Sumner (6th place), Daniel Hodges (5th place), David Thigpen (4th place), Hunter Loosberg (3rd place), and Hunter Manning (2nd place). The winner for the 2015 SDM school spelling bee is Christine Schaefer. These six students will compete in the system spelling bee against six students from JRT. The system bee will be held Thursday, February 5th, in the JRT media center at 8:30. Good luck to all students involved and congratulations to a job well done!
