It's time to "adopt" again! Dr. Lloyd Darby, III is leading the "Adopt a Teacher" campaign for the third year to help support local teachers in the classroom. The campaign began two years ago when Dr. Darby realized teachers were in need of basic classroom supplies. With that in mind, Dr. Darby devised a plan of action. He contacted Kaysi Beverly, music teacher at SDM, and discussed a plan that would allow local business people to adopt a teacher and provide a monetary contribution that would be used by the teacher for classroom supplies. He then promptly adopted Mrs. Beverly's music class, and he has done the same last year and this year. He and Mrs. Beverly are now in the process of recruiting other business people to follow his lead.
Every teacher at Sally Meadows was adopted in the initial year of the program, and nearly all were adopted last year. It is an overwhelming feeling to experience the generosity and support from our local community. In particular, our gratitude is extended to Dr. Darby for stepping up again to continue this program for the third year. If you would like to adopt a teacher, please feel free to contact the teacher directly or call the SDM office.
