There has been a flurry of activities occurring at Meadows Elementary this month!  (See the slideshow link at the bottom of this article.)  Our PTO members worked tirelessly to create a Santa Shop to encourage the spirit of giving.  Students were allowed to visit during their PMC time and could purchase gifts for others.  The shop was a HUGE success and the students will be ready for the holidays with their gifts in hand.

PTO also helped transform the media center to a Candyland Christmas.  Many volunteers worked with classes to create crafts that were used to decorate the media center.  Adding to the theme of the Candyland Christmas, Mrs. E. Palmer's students got on board by making a gingerbread train for display, and Mrs. Purvis and Mrs. Williamson's fourth grade students contributed by creating a community of gingerbread buildings in conjunction with a "how to" writing activity.

Library helpers were honored with a celebration to show appreciation for their work in the media center.  These fourth and fifth grade students give of their time several mornings a week to assist in reshelving books.  Mrs. Mosley and Mrs. McKenzie are very grateful to the library helpers for their dedication.

The spirit of kindness, love, compassion, joy, giving, and friendship was so very abundant as we enjoyed all of these activities and many more within classrooms and our school.  Mrs. E. Palmer and Mrs. Ganey exemplified this very well with the collection of over 75 blankets for the needy.  Thank you to all who helped make the blanket drive a success.

All of us at SDM wish you a Merry Christmas!
